What is sublimation printing?

Sublimation printing is a modern digital printing technology in which a design (e.g. photo, text, pattern, etc.) printed with sublimation inks is transferred into the material, rather than onto it, using heat and pressure. The heat turns the ink into a gas, and the ink soaks into the material and is permanently attached.

This means that the print is not a separate layer, but becomes part of the material or a special surface layer on it.
